ripe for the picking

jm isn't very happy here coz his mama wouldn't let him pick the strawberries (he squashes them in his hands)

the basket is half full of strawberries... weighed about a kilo. if filled to the brim, it could weigh almost two and a half kilos

strawberry fields also have flowers and other veggies like cabbage and cauliflower

he's quite happy to pose in front of the flowers now

restaurant hopping

whenever my high school friends and i get together in bacolod or elsewhere, we always congregate around food. here are some of the restos that have given us a venue for memories of good food and fun times.

this is aboy's in goldenfields in bacolod. their specialty is sinugba nga isda (grilled fish) like blue marlin and kinilaw nga isda (raw fish in vinegar) and seafoods like talaba (oysters) and green shells. this was a famous hang-out almost ten years ago but the last time i went home to bacolod, nobody suggested aboy's anymore so i guess it's not the happening place in bacolod these days.

what's chicken dinner in bacolod if not at chicken deli? this casual dining restaurant is a few steps up from manokan country but the chicken is just as good and sometimes, with the crispy skin that results from grilling the chicken with a covered grill, their chicken is even better. although, tata, my bestfriend, and i still prefer chicken house and we have our own chicken house hang-out across from shopwise which is just a hop-skip-and-jump from our residence building.

i don't know if people still remember but there used to be a casual dining restaurant in glorietta that served the best baby back ribs in town... racks! they closed shop a few years back but still it's good to reminisce. in this pic though, we haven't ordered our food yet so...

lamesa grill can be found at the back area of the mall of asia near the manila bay. we ate al fresco so after our dining experience, the salty air left our skin with a fine film of salt. they have a platter of grilled seafoods and pork bbq but the taste is not something to rave about...wish we ate somewhere else...

dencio's is one of those restaurants that have a lot of branches. in makati alone, there are about 3 of them. but since our friends, cutie and totong were staying at the discovery suites in ortigas, we decided to have dinner with them at dencio's in metrowalk. this was a few months before andy had his heart bypass surgery so we had crispy pata and sinigang na liempo. now, andy is more conscious of his food intake so we stick to healthy viands now...
